A TEENAGE football player from Powys will be showcasing his skills in the professional league of the United Arab Emirates this season after completing a dream move..

19-year-old Owen Anning from Presteigne has joined Gulf United having impressed during trials.

The youngster attended Radnor Valley Primary school and John Beddoes High School where he developed his skills. 


From a young age like a lot of boys always wanted to play football throughout school and played at Shrewsbury Town at U16s and U17’s level before joining Macclesfield  where he represented the club’s U18’s.

Anning joined Hereford Lads Club which gave him the step up into senior men’s football. 

He had recently been out in Dubai on trial with Fleetwood United, a sister club of Fleetwood Town, when he was approached by representatives of Gulf United.

The club is well known for nurturing young talent, playing exhibition matches against professional overseas teams and for being one of leading football brands in the Middle-East and play in the UAE First Division.
