NEWTOWN Football Club have made their first signing of a new era with the return of winger Lifumpa Mwandwe.

The 23 year old is no stranger to Latham Park and represents the newly appointed Scott Ruscoe's first signing since succeeding Chris Hughes after a golden decade for the club.

Mwandwe first joined the club on loan from Shrewsbury Town in 2019 having signed a professional deal for the English Football League club following a string of eye catching performances for their under 18s side.

The London-born player signed for the Robins in 2021 and played a key role in the club's European success.

Mwandwe returns to the JD Cymru Premier club following two seasons in the Canadian Premier League with Halifax Wanderers having scored the all important second goal and decisive penalty in our UEFA conference qualifying victory against HB Torshavn in 2022.

Mwandwe said: “I’m delighted to be back at the club.

"I’m more determined than ever to train hard, to get back playing regularly and hopefully help the team get back into Europe again.  I can’t wait to get started."
