BOW Street Football Club veteran Gerwyn Evans entered the club history books this week.

The 53 year old became the Ardal North East League club's oldest ever goalscorer in a 6-2 friendly win over Cardiganshire League side Dewi Stars on Wednesday night.

The goal was made all the sweeter as Gerwyn's strike was set up by sons Rhys and Owen.

Gerwyn’s first season with Bow Street was in 1987, and apart from two seasons with Talybont, he has been with Bow Street ever since while also representing Dewi Stars during the old dual registration days.

In that time he has won the league seven times as a player and has fulfilled numerous other roles including groundsman and Huw Bates’ assistant when they won the Emrys Morgan Cup and were promoted to the Spar Mid Wales league back in the late 2000s.

County Times:

“As soon as I saw Rhys pass it out to Ows, I knew the cross was coming in and it was just about making sure I was there or there abouts.

“Having missed one chance a few minutes earlier that I would have gobbled up 20 years ago, there was no way I was missing again and to score with a diving header against my old club was extra special.

“I’m not saying that I’m going to be playing for Batesy every week, but while I’ve got air in my lungs I’ll always be available for a cameo, especially if my boys are playing alongside me.”
