JOSH Astley proved the difference with all four goals as Llanfair United hit back to seal a 4-1 win at home to Penparcau.

Ryan Edwards gave Arky the lead in the Ardal North East League opener before Astley levelled before the break.

Astley fired United ahead with 17 minutes remaining and completed his four goal blast with two goals in the final three minutes.

Meanwhile Carno began their season on a high with a 3-2 win at home to Four Crosses.

Paul Bache gave Crosses a 16th minute lead only for the Greens to level through Joe Morris after good work by Jack Orbell.

Ioan Humphreys gave Carno the lead on the hour before Orbell extended the advantage with 20 minutes remaining.

Graham Dyke came off the bench to reduce the arrears but Carno held firm for opening day glory.

Bow Street also tasted opening day triumph with goals from Llyr Davies and a Iolo Ap Dafydd double cancelling a reply from Ethan Holloway in a 3-1 win at home to Kerry.

Elsewhere honours ended even at Caersws in a 2-2 draw at home to Cefn Albion.

Rhydian Davies netted at both ends while a Callum Mannion strike ensured the visitors an interval lead.

The Bluebirds dominated the second-half and were rewarded when Neil Mitchell levelled with 15 minutes remaining.

Honours also ended even at Afoneitha Road where Welshpool Town returned from a 3-3 draw at Penycae.

Ryan Knott opened the scoring for Pool before Thomas Edwards restored parity for the hosts before the break.

Knott completed his hat-trick with two goals in eight minutes and with just 10 minutes remaining the points seemed destined to be celebrated by the Lillies.

However an Austin Owen double snatched Penycae a point to leave Pool frustrated.

Meanwhile Machynlleth suffered an opening day to forget, crashing 5-1 at home to Corwen.

Kevin Day's second minute opener separated the sides at the break before Jac Petrie levelled for Machynlleth early in the second-half.

However Owen Cordiner and Oliver Crimp goals sandwiched a Scott Evans double as Corwen strolled to an emphatic win at Cae Glas.

Elsewhere the region's two representatives in the Ardal South East League also marked their opening day with defeat.

Llandrindod Wells slipped to a 3-2 defeat at home to Panteg having led through Jack Evans before Macauley James and James Davies goals gave the visitors an interval lead.

Robbie Nicholls levelled with 15 minutes remaining only for Dylan Dinham to snatch glory with six minutes remaining.

Rhayader Town also slipped to a 3-1 opening day defeat at home to Croesyceiliog.

Lewis Clare and Connor Miles strikes gave the Gwent side the lead before Jordan McFadden hit back for the Red Kites with 10 minutes remaining.

However with just seconds remaining Elliot George struck to settle the outcome.
