Newtown 0, Dundalk 1 (Duffy 51) (0-5 on aggregate)

Newtown's European dream is over after a comprehensive 5-0 aggregate defeat to irish premier side Dundalk.

Already trailing 4-0 from the first leg, the Robins were facing an uphill task, and they nearly got off to a flying start when Aaron Williams saw an early chance go begging in the late afternoon Park Hall Sunshine.

But despite a bright opening, Newtown failed to seriously trouble Alessio Abibi in the Dundalk goal, and it didn't get any easier just after the break when Michael Duffy stole in behind the Newtown back four to slide past Dave Edwards in the Newtown goal to make it 1-0 on the night.

Newtown should have had an equaliser in the dying stages when Williams got a sight of goal, only to see his volleyed effort well saved by Abibi in the Dundalk goal, and the Albanian 'keeper again had to be at his best to turn Nick Rushton's top-corner bound effort over the bar to preserve his clean sheet.
