Welshpool 118 all out lost to Wheaton Aston 127 all out by nine runs
WELSHPOOL fell just short in a nine run defeat at Wheaton Aston in division three of the Henshalls Shropshire League.
Tom Bowen (2-18) and Chris Proctor (2-19) led the Pool attack with support from Robert Anderson (1-17), Joe Cadwallader (1-20), Sam Cadwallader (1-27) and Mat McWhinnie (1-23).
However Ben Marson (29), Jon Jenkins (27) and Nathan Whittingham (15) guided the home side to 127 to defend.
Tom Bowen (31) led Pool's reply with support from Mat Sherwood (14) before Proctor upped the run rate with a defiant 46.
However a tail end collapse heralded the end of Pool's challenge as Marson (4-11) and Stuart Chick (4-17) completed their downfall for 118.
