BUILTH Wells’ frustrating GB Liners Marches Premier League season continued in a four wicket defeat at home to Luctonians.

Opener Aled Powell (30) pinned together the innings after the home side suffered a top order collapse and before the middle order began to work the scoreboard.

Richard Davies (19), Steffan Towns (19), Jeremy Snook (20) and Mike Williams (20no) contributed to guide the Bulls to 181-8 to defend.

Tom Jay (3-32) and Sam Veran (2-24) starred for the visitors.

Craig Lawrence (30) led Lucton’s reply before Imalka Kankanamalage (69no) and Jake Davies (26) guided the visitors to 182-6.

Sam Williams (2-35) led the home side’s wicket haul.

Meanwhile Builth Wells IIs failed to finish the job in a draw at Canon Frome IIs in division two.

Martin Hurst struck an unbeaten century with Paul Rowe (22) and Sam Buckler (19) helping the Bulls post a commanding 201-5.

Kevin Hall (3-18) and Ian Morgan (2-32) led Builth’s attack in reply but Paul Steadman (28) and Simon Cottrell (34no) dug in for Frome to 130-8 and a draw.

Elsewhere in the second division Presteigne fell to a 29 run defeat at home to derby rivals and league leaders Hay.

Ben Warn (52) was joined by Daniel Bowen (29), Arthur Price (23) and Tim Davies (29) in guiding Hay to 167-6 with Roger Townsend (3-42) the pick of the home attack with support from Mike Edwards (1-26) and Mark Ammonds (1-19).

Ammonds (63) led Presteigne’s reply but wickets fell around him as Gabriel Moore (3-30), Price (2-24) and Huw Griffiths (2-22) completed the home side’s demise for 138 in the 37th over to remain rooted to the foot of the table.
