Llanidloes fell to a five wicket defeat at Shrewsbury IIIs in division six of the Henshalls Shropshire League.

Adrian Foulkes played a starring role with an unbeaten knock of 91 with William Denham (20) and Dave Moody (30no) also playing supporting roles as the Welsh side posted 203-4 to defend.

Ryan Jones (3-50) and Eogan Jones (2-40) led Llanidloes’ reply with Rob Johnson (19), Alex Walker (27) and Callum Simpson (32) all accounted for.

However Llanidloes had no answer to James Davis who guided Shrewsbury to 204-5 victory with an unbeaten knock of 95.

The result leaves Llanidloes in third place with 177 points and still among the contenders for promotion to division six as the club set out this summer.

Elsewhere Montgomery IIs’ testing season as the Lymore club crashed to a heavy 85 run defeat at home to Cound IIs.

Farrell Waters carried his bat with a superb 166no with support from Ryan Ashton (26), Craig Kinsey (16) and Dan Wilson (21no) guiding Cound to an imposing 261-5.

Ryan Blayney (4-46) proved the pick of the Monty attack.

David Thomas carried his bat in reply with an uneaten 61 but Kyle Marsh (2-31) and Jonathan Holt (2-19) saw wickets fall regularly before Stan Davies (24), Blayney (13) and Lennon Bryan (18no) offered defiance and guided Monty to 177-7.

The result leaves Montgomery in eighth place with 70 points.

Meanwhile Welshpool IIs celebrated a convincing nine wicket win at Allscott Heath IIIs in division seven.

Harry Bowen (3-5), Rupert Redway (3-26) and Kieran Evans (3-27) restricted Heath to 136 with Garry West (67) and Tim Clare (32) top scoring.

Dale Evans (66no) carried his bat in reply with Dave Whitehouse (23) and Ryan Preston (27no) guiding Pool to 139-1 and victory.
