Welshpool 209-6 beat Wroxeter 135 all out by 74 runs

RUSSELL Cadwallader rolled back the years with a swashbuckling knock of 71 to lead Welshpooll to victory over Wroxter in Henshalls League Two.

Paul Chapman (30), Tom Bowen (29) and Nick Davies (13) chipped in early on before Cadwallader (71) was joined by Patrick Davies (37no) in guiding Pool to a commanding 209-6 to defend.

Ryan Fernando (2-15) and Tim Cotton (2-31) led the attack for the visitors.

Wickets fell regularly in reply as Mat McWhinnie (2-19) removed Matthew Evans for a duck and Rob Davies, caught for 10 by Nick Davies.

Tom Bowen (2-28) and Robert Anderson also claimed wickets before Charlie Haylett rallied the middle order.

Haylett (40), Fernando (23) and Dan Harris (13) worked the scoreboard but Anderson (2-32) and Sam Cadwallader (1-29) maintained pressure.

Chris Proctor (3-19) polished off the tail end resistance to leave Jay Salgadu (13no) and Wroxeter all out for 135.

The result sees Welshpool climb to ninth place in the third division with 93 points.
