ADELE Nicoll marked her return to action with a gold medal in the discus at last weekend’s Loughborough International

The Welshpool star’s throw of 16.14 metres earned her gold in the women’s shot put.

Nicoll said: “I’ve worked incredibly hard the past year especially. Transitioning over to bobsleigh has been challenging but I am loving both sports still.

“To throw very near to my personal best throw whilst training predominantly for bobsleigh is amazing.

“I’m so determined to perform well in both sports. I’m aiming for the 2022 Winter Olympics and 2022 Commonwealth Games.”

“Everything is going well at the moment so it’s just about consistency and dedication now.

"Thanks as always to the local team around me and the help behind the scenes: Great Fitness, Rikki Lloyds, Dawson Shanahan and Carpenter and Paterson."

Trefeglwys star Lauren Williams also represented Wales in the women’s 4x400 relay.

Williams said: “It was as an honour to pull on the vest of Wales, and this time was even more special given how difficult the last 12 months have been for many athletes.

“I had a lot of fun running the relay and am glad to get my season underway.”
