Penybont 0 TNS 3

TNS maintained their title bid with a resounding victory at Penybont tonight.

With Connah's Quay Nomads claiming victory at Barry Town United the JD Cymru Premier title race looks set to go to the wire.

The Saints had to toil for the spoils in south Wales and struggled to unlock the well-drilled home defence during the first-half.

The Oswestry side were indebted to a fine save from goalkeeper Paul Harrison to tip away Ben Ahmun's headed effort on 38 minutes in the best chance for either side in the first-half.

Ahmun continued to provide the home side's chief threat, firing over from the edge of the area before testing Harrison again on the stroke of half-time.

TNS came out of the traps after the break with Ben Clark immediately forcing home goalkeeper Ashley Morris into action.

Clark broke the deadlock just before the hour with his curling effort deflecting off Dan Jefferies and beyond the reach of Morris.

TNS doubled their lead eight minutes later with Ryan Brobbel firing home a free-kick from the edge of the area.

Morris denied Clark before Ahmun drilled wide at the other end as Penybont sought a route back into the game.

However TNS were not to be denied and put the stamp on a comprehensive victory in injury-time with Leo Smith on target.
