MONTGOMERY return to action in division two this summer.

Andrew Barker captains the first team in the second division while Tom Corfield takes charge of the reserves in division six.

Barker said: “We’ve got a really solid core of good players, and a thriving youth section.

“Our goal this year is to keep progressing our youth into more senior cricket, and next year look to really push for promotion.

“It’s a good competitive division we’re in, and anyone can beat anyone on their day, it’ll be a good season.

“Everyone is super keen to get playing, but it’s also so good to just get back out with your mates. We love cricket, because we play with our family.

“Not having a winter indoor season and waiting to net has led to some very rusty training, but just being back gets the blood pumping and the drive to play.”

Meanwhile Corfield has targeted a promotion push in division six

“No one ever likes being moved down a league. We’ll be looking to prove them wrong and hopefully try and challenge at the top of the table,” said Corfield.

“It’s been a very long winter indeed, especially with lockdown and no indoor league either. I’m so pleased we can have a season after all.

“We can’t wait to get back out there.”
