Aberystwyth Town 1 Newtown 2

NEWTOWN staged a comeback to celebrate derby glory at Aberystwyth Town last night.

The Robins made the trip on the back of a heavy defeat at the hands of Connah's Quay Nomads and looking to avenge defeat at the same venue less than a month ago.

Newtown started brightly with Ryan Edwards' shot deflected wide before Callum Roberts, returning to the line-up following suspension, forced home goalkeeper Alex Pennock into action.

The visitors continued to dictate the game with Edwards volleying wide on half an hour before Nick Rushton headed wide and moments later Kieran Mills-Evans headed Craig Williams' free-kick over the bar.

However the home side led against the run of play five minutes before the break with Marc Williams heading home Mathew Jones' corner.

Owain Jones tested goalkeeper Dave Jones early in the second-half but the Robins were soon probing once again.

Edwards released Tyrone Ofori who set up James Davies only for the ex-Llanfair United striker to fire over.

Newtown dominated possession and their endeavour was finally rewarded with 15 minutes as Ofori, who saw red on his last visit to Park Avenue, swept home from close range.

Newtown maintained their dominance with the Seasiders unable to get out of their own half.

Just when the home side looked to have done enough to claim a draw the Robins snatched a last gasp winner with substitute Jordan Evans the last action hero.
