THE Nathaniel MG Cup has been scrapped.
The Football Association of Wales' National League Board (NLB) made the decision with time to complete the season fast running out.
The Nathaniel MG Cup is the second most senior cup competition in Wales, ranked only behind the Welsh Cup in terms of prestige.
An FAW spokesman said: "The decision has been taken as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that has resulted in a condensed playing calendar for the remainder of the 2020/21 season for all JD Cymru Leagues clubs.
"In addition, the NLB took into consideration the logistical difficulties as a result of the JD Cymru South and North yet to have its ‘Elite Status’ reinstated by the National Sports Group.
"It was therefore felt that there is insufficient time to complete the competition before the end of the current season."
The JD Cymru Premier had its ‘Elite Status’ reinstated by the National Sports Group last week, however Tier 2 remains unable to play at this moment in time.
