MONTGOMERY Cricket Club has unveiled its committee for the forthcoming season.

The club met online to discuss the year ahead with hopes high the summer would be better than last when the league season was heavily impacted by social distancing restrictions.

It as confirmed the club was in a sound financial position and had purchased a new outfield mower.

The following will serve on the committee: President, John Jones; Chairman, John Barker; Vice chairman, Stan Davies; Secretary, David Thomas; Treasurer, Andrew Barker; Child welfare officers, Victoria Ruff-Cock, Anne Griffiths and Rob Bennett; Fixtures secretary: Andrew Black; First team captain, Andrew Barker; Second team captain, Thomas Corfield; Youth manager: Keith Griffiths; Communications officer: Tom Hughes; Committee members: Aaron Ruff-Cock, Dave Jones, Sam Williams

Tom Corfield was appointed second team captain, following in the footsteps of father George who has also been captain in previous years.

Corfield said: “Looking at the provisional league structure for 2021 which places us in division six, my first thought was that we should aim to challenge at the top of the table and hopefully get us back to division five again.

“We’ll have to be on top of our game though, as we’ll surely come up against some strong sides”.
