RICHIE Evans has spoken of his pride after being appointed manager of Ardal North East League side Machynlleth.

The former Carno and Caersws winger was unveiled as new Cae Glas No1 on Thursday night.

Evans said: "I am looking forward to my first management role. It's an honour to manage my home town club and a very proud moment.

"We have a very young local squad with huge potential.

"My aims are to consolidate our place in the new league. We only 15 games so need to start really well and get some good results.

A club spokesman hailed the appointment.

He said: "Rich has a wealth of experience playing in the Mid Wales League and will look bring that in his first managerial role.

"Richie comes into the club at the reigns with Daniel Roberts continuing as assistant manager."

Meanwhile Evans has completed the first signings of his tenure with Joseph Bell arriving from Carno alongside James Ingleston.
