Newtown 162-8 beat Chirk 161 all out by eight wickets
Newtown placed one hand on the John Rees group title with a two wicket win at Chirk.
Joe Monk (3-24), Tom Anderson (2-28) and Sam Cooke (2-26) were joined by the inform Dave Anthony (2-17) in leading the Town attack with John Anthony (1-16) also claiming a wicket as Chirk fell for 161.
Andrew Swarbrick (42) top scored for the Colliers while Mark Shaw (25) also provided middle order resistance.
Swarbrick (4-36) also led the Chirk reply with Wynn Jones (2-31) also among the wickets.
Ricky Davies was was joined by Ryan Davies in leading Town's middle order with a 73 run third wicket partnership before the latter caught by Wynn Jones off Billy Swarbrick for a top scoring 48.
Ricky Davies anchored himself in and pinned the middle order together being caught by Shaw off Andrew Swarbrick for 39 and Town 105-6
Sam Cooke (15) and Ally Laird (11) edged Town toward their total before Monk (20no) and Dave Anthony (12no) formed an unbroken ninth wicket stand to guide their side to 162-8 and victory.
