Flint Town Utd 1
Newtown 0
NEWTOWN tasted defeat at the hands of new boys Flint Town United who marked their return to the top flight with victory.
Nathan Craig was the home side's hero, curling home a 25 yard free-kick midway through the first-half for his first goal for the Silkmen since his summer arrival from Caernarfon Town.
The hosts threatened from the first whistle with Connor Harwood's shot blocked in the opening minutes.
However the first-half proved an even affair before the deadlock was broken on 33 minutes with Craig curling home.
Flint were reduced to 10 men early in the second-half as Rob Hughes saw red following an altercation with Sean McAllister.
Newtown began to press their numerical advantage with Jack Kelly heading narrowly wide following a corner on the hour.
The Robins continued to dominate but 10 man Flint held firm to celebrate a winning start to life back in the Cymru Premier while leaving Newtown pointless in Deeside.
