LLANIDLOES Cricket Club hosted one of its most eagerly anticipated events of its sporting calendar on Sunday.

The club’s Recreation Field home hosted the 2020 edition of its popular president’s day.

A side selected by the club president’s took on a side comprising of the current team in a 35 over match.

The honours were claimed by the Llanidloes team who posted 166-4 for a six wicket win with the President’s side ending on 163-9 after 35 competitive overs.

A club spokesman confirmed the club had been delighted with the event.

A spokesman said: “After a bit of a damp start, the weather turned out glorious in the end and were just very pleased to get a full 35 overs a side in after the bad weather we have had in previous years.

“It was wonderful to see so many of the older players again, and our absolute pleasure to welcome them back out on to the field.

“Well over 300 runs were scored in the day.

“It was a great turn out once from the people of Llanidloes.

“Everyone is already looking forward to next year.”

The club will hope to take their momentum into this weekend’s crunch clash at home to Welshpool in the Wales and West League top of the table clash.
