Builth Wells 109-3 bear Dales 108 all out by seven wickets

BUILTH Wells toasted a comfortable seven wicket win at home to Dales in group one of the Marches League.

Dylan McPhee (2-7) was joined by Mike Williams (2-37)in striking out the top order before David Clegg offered middle order resistance.

Ezra Tattersall (1-20) maintained the pressure with Tommy Adams caught by Robert Wall for two before the coveted wicket of Clegg was claimed, caught by McPhee off Ben Cripps (1-18) for a top scoring 30.

Mike Williams ran out Adrian Gore for 16 before Max George was stumped by Chris Roff off Sam Williams (1-14) as Dales' dismissal was completed for 108.

Richard Galton carried his bat in reply as Builth looked to finish the job early.

However opening partner Sam Williams was caught by Lucas Jones off Gore before McPhee fell for a duck to Clegg.

Clegg completed his 2-21 with Tim Richards caught by Brad Davies for 11.

Roff (34no) joined Galton (34no) in an unbroken fourth wicket stand to steer the Bulls to 109-3 in the 22nd over.

Meanwhile Builth Wells IIs endured a day to forget with a nine wicket defeat at Almley in group five.

Paul Rowe (24), Ian Morgan (20) and Alecs Williams (20) chipped in while Winston Williams (28no) guided the Bulls to 105-4 to defend.

Andy Duggan (2-18) led Almley's attack.

Duggan was snared LBW by Gareth Sterry (1-14) in reply but Cory Wood (51no) carried his bat and joined by Oliver Hughes (41no) in an unbroken second wicket partnership to guide their side to 107-1 in the 13th over.

Elsewhere Presteigne's clash at home to Hay-on-Wye was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.
