Montgomery 131 all out beat Cound 128-9 by three runs

MONTGOMERY celebrated a thrilling three run victory at Cound in the Shrewsbury and West second division.

Monty struggled to make an impression with the bat as Tom Corfield (16) fell to Harry Roberts (2-15) who caught and bowled Charlie Clinton (2) while captain Andrew Barker (6) departed cheaply to Darren Moody.

Wickets continued to fall with Aaron Ruff-Cock (15) claimed by Gordon Wray who completed his 2-21 with the wicket of Rob Bennett (1) while Lennon Bryan was out by Moody for a duck.

However Tim Davies offered resistance and pushed his side to 104-7 when he was caught by Moody off Owen Brayne (1-31) for a top scoring 34.

Alex Bromley (18) looked to inspire the tail end before falling to Ryan Ashton (2-20) who was joined by Moody (2-22) in completing Montgomery's demise for just 131.

Cound wobbled in reply with the fall of opener Graham Trow to Ed Bennett (1-13) for 20 sparking a top order collapse.

Ruff-Cock (3-7) led Monty's attack with support from Charlie Kinsey (1-18) reducing the home side to just 56-5.

However Gabriel Williams (25no) was joined by Dan Tudor in a 67 run sixth wicket stand which brought Cound to within sight of their target before the latter caught by Kinsey off Alex Bromley for a top scoring 38.

Barker (1-39) bowled Tom Qurashi for a duck before the Cound tail end pressed the self destruct button with two run outs seeing their challenge end on 128-9.
