THE meteoric rise of West End has been the greatest success story in the history of local football in Swansea.

Now a fixture in the system, the club was the first to be promoted to the Welsh Leagues from the Swansea league system and could, for several seasons, lay claim to being the second most successful outfit in the entire city.

It has enjoyed a chequered history from the outset.

Formed in 1964 by a group of friends at the Wellington pub in the west end of Swansea, the club's inaugural kit was a set of Welsh international jerseys donated by national team striker Trevor Ford who lived nearby.

West End quickly began to make an impression in the Swansea Senior leagues and can count thirteen Swansea League Division One titles among its numerous domestic honours, as well as the 2005 FAW Trophy with a 3-1 win against Rhydymwyn at Rhayader.

The club is currently managed by former Haverfordwest and Goytre United defender Dale Griffiths who took over the reins after a relegation back to division three.
