Welshpool 138 all out beat Montgomery IIs 101-7 by 37 runs

PATRICK Davies played a key role as Welshpool celebrated a 37 run derby win at Montgomery IIs.

Pool wobbled early on with opener David Whitehouse run out by David Jones for 16.

Jones also celebrated the cheap wickets of Dan Pritchard (2) and Pieter Van Jaarsveld for a duck before opener Paul Chapman was caught by Matthew Jones off Neil Tuffin (1-15) for 22.

Joe Cadwallader and Davies combined to revitalise the middle order and work the scoreboard.

Cadwallader was caught by Ryan Blayney off Harry Wilkinson for 32 with Wilkinson completing his 3-28 by trapping Sam Cadwallader LBW and bowling William Gannon for ducks.

Meanwhile Davies was caught by Alex Haycock off Blayney (1-24) for a top scoring 34 to leave Russell Cadwallder (5no) to guide Pool to 138 to defend.

Monty suffered a total collapse in reply with Davies (2-12) and Van Jaarsveld (3-13) combining to sweep through the top and middle order with ease.

Ruper Redway (1-21) celebrated the wicket of surviving opener Matthew Jones for 24 and Adam Gannon (1-16) toppled Morgan Matthews ((14no) as Monty's challenge ended on 101-7.
