Guilsfield 122-7 beat Newtown IIs 120-8 by two wickets

ALLAN Williams played a key role as Guilsfield toasted a two wicket win at home to Newtown IIs.

Newtown lost early wickets as opener Ian Hancocks (4) fell to Rhodri Davies (1-14) before Danny Foulkes was snared LBW by Williams for one.

Iwan Smout and Matt Humphreys looked to revive the visitors before Smout was run by Gary Meredith for 25.

Meredith also caught Sion Jarman off Daniel Brown (1-22) for eight before Humphreys was caught by Rhodri Davies off Jacob Lloyd (1-21) for a top scoring 26.

Callum Foulkes was caught by Lloyd off Griffiths for 19 before captain Richard Smout (9no) dug in to frustrate the Guils attack.

However Williams (2-20)struck with Paul Hawthorn caught by Davies for nine while Griff Davies was caught and bowled by Griffiths (2-27) for a duck to leave Newtown defending 120-8.

Gary Griffiths was bowled early by Griff Davies in reply before Sam Griffiths and Meredith came together for the second wicket.

Griffiths was caught by Iwan Smout off Reinio De Klerk (1-22) for 16 before Davies completed his 2-20 with Jordan Evans departing for two.

Meredith was joined by Dave Lewis in a 30 run fourth wicket stand before departing to Jonathon Davies (1-8) for 19.

Lewis was caught by De Klerk off Hawthorn (1-32) for 20 before Brown fell to Humphreys (1-14) for 23.

Garry Lewis was run out by De Klerk for 10 but Guilsfield were seen over the line by Rupert Shingler (19no) and Williams (10no) in the 32nd over.
