Alberbury 112 all out lost to Chirk 193-7 by 81 runs

ALBERBURY lost out at home to Chirk who left Pecknall Farm the winners in division one of the Shropshire League.

The hosts celebrated the cheap wickets of Shaun Walker, caught by Mike Crawshaw off James Bird (1-33) for 10 while Sam Morris bowled Gareth Partridge (5).

However surviving opener James Carter and Nick Flack kept the runs ticking over until the the former departed to Andy Holloway (1-21) for 22.

Flack (31) led a strong middle order display with Ollie Gough (21) making a solid knock before both fell with Morris (2-34) and Ed Kneale (1-38) claiming wickets.

Matt Bevan accounted for Andrew Swarbrick, caught by Holloway for four, but the home attack struggled to cope with Mark Shaw whose middle order defiance saw him add 40 runs before being caught by Holloway off Bevan (2-15).

Chirk were led to a challenging193-7 to defend by tail ender Wynn Jones (19no).

Alberbury suffered a collapse in reply as Luke Gardner (2-5) and Nick Flack (2-23) dominated with support from Andrew Swarbrick (2-15) and Billy Swarbrick (2-16) eroding the home top and middle order.

Only Lara Jones (14) managed double figures before Bevan arrived at the crease to frustrate the visiting attack.

However wickets continued to fall around him, including Holloway who was caught by Partridge off Ollie Gough (1-23) to leave Bevan (52no) and the home side all out for 112.
