Montgomery 179 all out lost to Oswestry IIs 180-8 by two wickets
MONTGOMERY lost out by two wickets in a home thriller against Oswestry IIs in the second division.
The hosts suffered a top order collapse as Tom Corfield, Tim Davies, Lennon Bryan, Aaron Ruff-Cock and Rob Bennett departed cheaply as Harry Lloyd (3-12) and Ian Davies (2-19) struck before Gwynn Williams and Sam Williams offered middle order resistance.
Both worked the scoreboard before falling to Archie James (2-34) with Gwynn Williams (42) and Sam Williams (35) sent back to the pavilion.
Alex Bromley (15), Charlie Kinsey (8) and Edward Bennett (10) completed Henry Walker's (3-18) to leave Tom Hughes (14no) and Monty all out for 179.
Keenan Oakley (39) laid foundations in Oswestry's reply before being caught by Rob Bennett off Gwynn Williams while Oliver Roberts was stumped by Rob Bennett off Sam Williams (27).
Gwynn Williams (3-36) maintained pressure but Matthew Davies pushed the border side to the brink of victory before being caught by Rob Bennett off Kinsey (2-43) for a top scoring 57.
Steve Humphreys (9no) and Floyd Owen (3no) guided Oswestry to 180-8 in the penultimate over to complete their two wicket win.
