Welshpool 219-8 beat Guilsfield 78 all out by two wickets

ROB Anderson took eight wickets to inspire Welshpool to a two wicket win at home to Guilsfield.

Pool made their intentions clear from the offset with the opening pair of Paul Chapman and Nick Davies laying the foundations.

Davies was caught by Rhodri Davies off Allan Williams for 55 before Dan Chodecki was caught by Jordan Evans off Jacob Lloyd (1-27) for two.

Dan Pritchard was also caught by Evans off Williams (2-37) for a duck.

The coveted wicket of Chapman was finally claimed, caught by Williams off Sam Griffiths for a top scoring 84.

Griffiths completed his 3-60 with Chris Proctor (18) and Patrick Davies (4) departing before Davies (2-35) dismissed Mat McWhinnie to leave Tom Bowen (14no) and Anderson (2no) to guide Pool to a commanding 219-8 to defend.

Anderson dominated in reply with a career best 8-12 leaving Guilsfield with no answer.

Martin Owen was trapped LBW for 16 to become his first victim before catching Griffiths off Bowen for 17.

Anderson added Evans for a duck while Dave Lewis was caught by Dan Pritchard for four,

Wickets continued to tumble as Andy Pugh (13) and Garry Lewis (3) departed before Rupert Shingler fell for 14.

Williams and Lloyd fell for ducks before Patrick Davies bowled Rhodri Davies for a duck to complete Guilsfield's demise for 78.
