MORDA United Football Club are back in business.

The Weston Road club confirmed its intentions to join the Montgomeryshire League next season with interest in reformed team soaring.

The club will be managed by Josh Barnfield with Olly Field as his assistant and John Vaughan serving as secretary.

A club spokesman said: "The interest so far from players has been unbelievable and also the support from the football people of the area.

"We want to give players another local team to represent and Morda has a great history so it's been a huge shame that they haven't had a team for the last few seasons.

"We hope to create a friendly welcoming atmosphere where people can come to support us.

"We welcome anyone to train with us but at the moment Covid restrictions limit numbers."

The club's return provides a boost the area following the demise of FC Oswestry Town last month and will also boost the numbers of the Montgomeryshire League which has seen many sides depart for the new Mid Wales League East and Mid Wales reserve leagues.
