Montgomery 89 all out lost to Shelton 195-6 by 106 runs

MONTGOMERY'S testing start to the second division continued in a 106 run defeat at Shelton.

The visitors restricted the home top order with wickets each for Charlie Kinsey (1-36), Alex Bromley (1-17), Tom Hughes (1-11) and Sam Williams (1-26) accounting for Robyn Matthews (18), Richard Walker (14), Alex Salisbury (10) and Mike Bishton (17).

Steve Griffiths also departed, caught by Rob Bennett off Jack Windsor (1-27) for 18, before Paul Davies and Ben Chambers offered defiance for the sixth wicket.

While Chambers was bowled by Ed Bennett (1-52) for 30 the home side were led to 195-6 by a top scoring Davies (68no).

Montgomery suffered a collapse in reply with Ed Bennett caught by Matthews off Chambers (2-8) for a duck setting the tone.

Lennon Bryan (4) and Aaron Ruff-Cock (5) both departed cheaply before Keelan Serjeant and Sam Williams fell for ducks to complete Joe Timmis' haul of 3-13.

Opener Tom Corfield was also removed by Steve Griffiths for a top scoring 20.
