Welshpool 105-4 beat Llanidloes 104 all out by six wickets

WELSHPOOL opened their campaign with a comfortable six wicket win at home to Llanidloes.

The fixture brought the two mid Wales sides together for their first competitive meeting in many years as part of the reduced third division

Captain Andrew Jones fell for a duck, caught by Adam Gannon off Joe Cadwallader (1-14), before Rob Anderson bowled Will Denham (8).

Anderson maintained pressure with David Owen departing for a duck while Dave Moody was caught by Paul Chapman off Sam Cadwallader (1-6) for two.

Anderson (3-22) caught and bowled David Lewis for a top scoring 38 before Patrick Davies (1-9) bowled Gerrard Owen (11).

William Gannon (4-9) polished off the Llanidloes order, including the wicket of Harry Turner (18) to complete the visitors dismissal for 104.

Welshpool wobbled early in their reply with Ryan Jones (2-28) on form.

However Dan Chodecki steadied the ship and was joined by Dan Pritchard for the third wicket before the latter fell to Dafydd Jones (1-33) for 18

Patrick Davies joined Chodecki in upping the run rate before being caught off Turner (1-15) for 27 to leave wily veteran Russell Cadwallader (8no) to join the outstanding Chodecki (38no) in guiding Pool home in the 30th over.
