MONTGOMERY IIs opened their Wales and West League campaign with a resounding 10 wicket derby win at home to Newtown IIs.
The visitors were on the ropes from the start with Iwan Smout, Danny Foulkes and Sion Jarman removed cheaply as Neil Tuffin (1-19), Morgan Matthews (1-15) and Andrew Barker (1-7) struck.
Surviving opener Ian Hancocks (40) was joined by Richard Smout (20) in reviving Town in a fourth wicket stand before both departed as Joe Haycock (4-23) struck.
Ryan Blayney (1-6) and Rob Yewdall (1-2) also added wickets before Jonathon Davies was run out by Iolo White for five to complete Newtown's fall for 95.
Andrew Barker (58no) and Gareth Jones (21no) carried their bats in reply to guide Monty to 96-0 and a resounding victory in the 24th over.
