NEWTOWN Wanderers Football Club have been accepted into MMP-NL Mid Wales League East.

The club become the 14th member of the league which will launch next season alongside a western division at tier four of the restructured Welsh football pyramid.

Club spokesman Dafydd Evans said the club's promotion represented a boost to the town.

He said: "We are delighted to be given the chance to prove ourselves at this level.

"Having a Newtown team play at a higher standard gives more opportunities for local players and help build and grow the club and enable us to improve facilities.
