Montgomery Cricket Club will complete in the restructured Shrewsbury and West Division Two this season, starting with an away game against Sentinel II on Saturday.

Andrew Barker has taken over the captaincy from Sam Williams, and the opening batsman will be hoping his side come out top in the 10 game mini league that also includes Cound, Oswestry II, Ellesmere and Shelton II.

Barker said: “We have got a good group of lads, and with good availability we should be looking to compete near the top in what will be a tough league.”

Barker will be assisted throughout the season by vice-captains Rob Bennett and Tom Corfield, who along with the likes of Tim Davies, Sam Williams, Ed Bennett, Charlie Clinton and Alex Bromley will be important players if Montgomery are going to fulfil their ambitions.

Anyone wanting to sign for Montgomery Cricket Club this season should get in touch with the club via their Facebook page or come to nets training on Wednesday evening at 6pm with players of all abilities are welcome.

Last season Jack Windsor and Matthew Ferneyhough began at nets practise and ended playing for the seconds.
