LLANIDLOES Town Football Club has been crowned the best Mid Wales League team of the 1940s.

To mark a new era for the Mid Wales League, the County Times has conduced a series of online reader polls to celebrate each decade from the 1920s to last season.

The third of our polls focused on the 1940s and the resumption of football following the end of the Second World War.

The first winners of the Mid Wales League was Builth Wells in 1946.

Llanidloes Town lifted the trophy in 1947 before Llanfyllin Town celebrated their first and only title in 1948 with Aberystwyth Town taking the honours in 1949.

Llanidloes Town topped the online poll with 41 per cent to be crowned the Mid Wales League club of the decade.

Llanfyllin Town came second with 25 per cent with Aberystwyth Town third with 17 per cent and Builth Wells fourth with 15 per cent of the vote of County Times readers.
