ATTENDANCE figures in the JD Cymru Premier fell last season.

A decline of 7.54 per cent has been reported with only three clubs averaging an increase in gates.

The average attendance last season was 319, down from 349 the previous campaign.

Attendances at Newtown remained steady with an average of 270, a 0.8 per cent decrease of the previous season.

However the average gates at TNS tumbled by 10.8 per cent from 326 in 2019 to 291 in 2020.

Elsewhere Caernarfon Town attendances slumped by a quarter from the previous season from 872 to 645 - a decrease of 26 per cent.

Barry Town United also reported a double digit decline with an average gate of 423 - 11 per cent down on the 476 average from the previous season.

The figures confirm last season's average attendance for the top flight as the worst since 2017 but statistics are skewed by the fact last season was curtailed in March by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Carmarthen Town gates fell by 5.3 per cent to 272 while Cefn Druids also reported a 4.3 per cent decline to 273 and Bala Town attendances fell by 0.7 per cent to 268.

However three clubs reported increases with Aberystwyth Town's figures up by 4.8 per cent to 317 and champions Connahs Quay Nomads gates up by 3.7 per cent to 290.

Meanwhile Cardiff Metropolitan also reported a small increase of 1.3 per cent to average 235 - the smallest average attendance in the league.
