BERRIEW Football Club have welcomed the arrival of midfielder Sam Evans.

The 20 year old arrives at the Talbot Field from local rivals Welshpool Town with manager Dave Jones delighted at the acquisition.

Jones said: “Sam is someone I have watched since he was in junior football and who I have tried to sign a couple of times over the past few years.

“I was delighted when he contacted me recently to tell me he wanted to join, he is certainly keen to come onboard and he will undoubtedly make us stronger.”

Jones hoped the club would be accepted into the new north east three league set for launch next season and backed the villagers to be competitive.

Jones said: “We are hopeful that we will be included in the new league and we need to be ready.

“I believe we are building a very strong and competitive squad ahead of the new season.”

However departing the club is midfielder Charlie Humphreys who has returned to home village club Abermule.

Jones said: “We would like to thank Charlie for the two seasons with us and we wish him all the best for the future.”
