NEXT season represents the start of a new era for the Mid Wales League.

With the advent of the new Football Association of Wales (FAW) pyramid restructure the Mid Wales League will split into two regional divisions next season.

It marks the end of an era for football in mid Wales.

The County Times has delved back into the archive and more than 100 years of football across the region.

Over the next week the County Times will conduct online polls for readers to choose their team of each decade.

Aberystwyth Town and Llanidloes Town began the decade on top with both lifting a championship in 1950 and 1951.

However the emergence of Tonfannau, a military club from Tywyn, changed the pecking order of Mid Wales football with the club winning three successive titles from 1952 to 1954 before Kington Town ended their spell of dominance in 1955.

Tonfannau won three further back to back championships from 1956 to 1958 before the decade ended with Aberystwyth Town winning the title in 1959.
