RYAN Sears has been retained by Shrewsbury Town.
The Newtown raised defender featured as part of the English League One club's retained list announced this week.
However forward Lufumpa Mwandwe has been released by the Shropshire club having spent last season on loan at Newtown in the JD Cymru Premier.
The 21 year old emerged through the youth system at Shrewsbury and made one senior appearance in 2017.
Meanwhile Sears, who spent the 2017 season on loan at his hometown club, having signed for the Shrews in 2016 will look to get his career back on track following a season in which he sustained a cruciate ligament injury.
Most recently the 21 year old had been rebuilding his fitness on loan at AFC Telford United in the National League North before the season was curtailed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Elsewhere ex-Shrewsbury Town and Newtown midfielder George Hughes has departed JD Cymru Premier side Airbus UK Broughton while former Newtown striker Jamie Breese has also left JD Cymru Premier side Caernarfon Town.
Hughes said: "I would like to thank everyone for last season.
"I have decided to move on to a new challenge. To everyone involved with the football club thank you, it has been a pleasure, and good luck for next season."
Meanwhile Breese departs Caernarfon Town following a golden five years in North Wales.
Breese said: "The decision has not been easy. The club has become a second home to me and walking away from such a special place is very tough.
"The 170 mile round trip travelling has taken its toll and sometimes things outside of football have to take priority.
"The Cofi army has been an unbelievable part of my time at the club and having my own song sung is something I will never forget. It is something I will really miss."
