WILL Thomas has been voted the greatest player in the history of Welshpool Town Football Club.

The 32 year old striker topped a County Times online poll which garnered more than 300 votes with 43 per cent.

In joint second place came Steve Rogers and Richie Harris who both claimed 20 per cent of the vote while Ian Evans was voted fourth with 17 per cent.

Thomas is the last player from the club’s Welsh Premier days still plying his trade at Maeydre.

Thomas began his career at Berriew in the Mid Wales League before arriving at Welshpool in 2003.

Thomas rejoined Berriew in 2009 upon the club’s promotion to the second tier while also representing Guilsfield, Caersws and Llanidloes Town before returning to Maesydre and spearheading the club’s revival in the Mid Wales League.
