RUGBY across Wales will cease at 6pm tonight (Saturday)

The decision was made by Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) chiefs as the coronavirus pandemic spread across Great Britain this week.

A statement from the WRU said: "The WRU, having considered expert medical advice has taken the precautionary measure of suspending all forms of rugby, including training and rugby-related courses, from 6pm on Saturday, March 14 up to and including Monday, March 30 2020.

"The WRU has taken this decision in the interests of players, supporters, volunteers, referees, stakeholders and Welsh communities in general.

"The WRU will continue to assess this fast-moving situation and provide further updates in due course."

The decision follows similar decisions made by the Football Association of Wales (FAW) and Welsh Netball.

Newtown Netball Club spokesperson Lisa Trigg said: "After the announcement from Welsh Netball this evening advising all clubs to suspend activities I have decided to cancel all training until September while the summer league has also been cancelled."
