Conwy Borough 1 Guilsfield 2

Guilsfield maintained their push for a top three finish with victory at Conwy Borough.

The Guils travelled without the experienced quintet of Sam Litchfield, Adam Jenkins, Andy Ford and Robbie James but had a dream start as a third minute Chris Cathrall free kick from the edge of the box was drilled low to evade keeper Ben Heald.

Guilsfield bossed the opening 20 minutes but the hosts gradually began to apply pressure and goalkeeper Mike Jones produced a great stop to deny Corrig McGonigle on 38 mins.

However deep into injury time McGonigle’s free kick from the edge of the box struck the post and the rebound fell to Sean McCaffrey to level.

The second-half belonged to Guilsfield and on 69 mins Jack Richards released Jake Cook who cut inside from the right flank to curl a beautiful shot beyond the reach of Heald.

Four minutes later and Cook was denied by a smart save by the Conwy stopper as Guilsfield saw out the remainder of the contest.

GUILSFIELD: Jones, Bromley, Richards, Rogers, Lloyd, Cathrall, Cook, Harries, Bkenkinsop, G Clifton (Francis 63), Parry. Subs: H Clifton.
