NEWTOWN Boxing Club hosts its first show in seven years later this month.

The town’s Elephant and Castle Hotel will play host to the event on Friday, March 20.

The show represents the first in the town since 2013 and biggest event organised by the Newtown club since reforming in 2018.

Interest in the event has already begun with organiser Joe Evans hopeful of a sell out crowd.

The previous show ended with Newtown’s Joe Evans taking on Kieron Thomas with the latter since progressing to the professional ranks.

Evans is now Newtown ABC head coach and looking to restore the club to past glories and return boxing events to the town’s sporting calendar.

Evans said: “This is an opportunity for all the public to witness what Newtown ABC and their members have to offer in a jam packed evening withh some great bouts on show.

“To avoid disappointment please get your tickets early as opposed to getting them on the door.”

The final line-up will be confirmed later in the month with Evans confident of between eight to 10 bouts on the card.
