LLANIDLOES Town overcame a gallant Four Crosses with a 3-2 victory to extend their lead at the top of MMP-NL Mid Wales League One.

The hosts enjoyed a dream start when Ashley Owen was clattered in the area by Crosses goalkeeper Adam Clewlow for Connor Bird to convert the resulting penalty.

However Crosses stormed back into the game and led courtesy of a Ben Simms double.

Llanidloes replied on the stroke of half-time with Jack Biggs spectacularly meeting Owen’s corner to level.

The second-half saw the contest evenly poised but the home side snatched the lead with 20 minutes remaining with Bird completing his double from the spot after Dafydd Carruthers was ruled to have been impeded.

Llanidloes struggled to put the game to bed and with minutes remaining survived a let off when Gaz Jones’ effort was adjudged offside before the home faithful celebrated a hard fought win.
