Colwyn Bay 2 Penrhyncoch 1
PENRHYNCOCH handed Colwyn Bay a fright before succumbing to defeat at Llanelian Road.
Mitch Bryant had already tested Penrhyncoch goalkeeper Leigh Jenkins before the hosts broke the deadlock with Bryant nodding home Cai Owen's 18th minute cross.
Jonny Evans volleyed over the bar as Penrhyncoch threatened but Bay continued to impose themselves with Sion Edwards forcing Jenkins into action on half an hour.
Penrhyn survived a let off on 35 minutes when Toby Jones' goal was scratched out due to an injury incurred to a Penrhyn player in a goalmouth melee following a corner.
Bay started the second-half on top with Bryant lashing wide but it was the visitors who made the breakthrough on 66 minutes with Owain James rifling home the equaliser.
The hosts surged forward in search of a reply but Jenkins produced a superb save to deny Sam Downey's headed effort before Bryant rattled the post.
The pressure told with four minutes remaining with Bryant releasing Tom McCready to blast beyond the reach of Jenkins and ensure the Roosters went home empty handed.
PENRHYNCOCH: Jenkins, Pemberthy, S James, Foligno, Ricketts, Pugh-Jones, O James, J Evans, T Evans, Burrell, Davies. Subs: Rees, Keyworth, Morgan, Jones, Thomas.
