MALDWYN Harriers Athletics Club will be represented at the London Marathon in April.

Newtown’s Aled Breeze will be joined by clubmates Maddie Griffiths and Mackenzie McCourt, both of Welshpool, in taking part in London’s Mini Marathon.

The trio secured their place courtesy of their results at the Welsh Championship in Llanelli last week.

Griffiths claimed third place in her age group while Breeze and McCourt both ended fourth in their age categories,

Fellow Harriers starlets Mya Bradley, Ethan Horobin, Olivia Garrod, Carwyn Owen, Callum Morgan and Carys Breeze were also in action for the Newtown club.

Endurance coach Hefin Rowlands said: "Another successful Welsh Athletics Cross country Championship for us as a club down in Pembrey where we saw 10 of our young athletes compete.

"The stand out performances were from Mackenzie McCourt, Maddie Griffiths and Aled Breeze who have all booked their place in the Welsh team to compete in the London Mini Marathon where they race over the last three miles of the course in April.

"The club's endurance group is growing from strength to strength and the commitment and hard work all of our kids put in are really paying off and we are extremely proud as a club of all their achievements."
