ADELE Nicoll maintained her dominance of the British Universities Shot Put title at the annual indoor championships in Sheffield this month.

The Welshpool star claimed gold with a throw of 15.76m to blow away the field of challengers to claim her fourth consecutive title.

The Birchfield Harrier made the trip to Glasgow for the British Indoor Championships last weekend and returned with a bronze medal in the with a distance of 16.19.

The medal marks a hugely successful opening to the year for Nicoll who was crowned Welsh champion last month with a throw of 15.76m in Cardiff.

Meanwhile Welshpool’s Ryan Edwards was also on the podium with a bronze and personal best set at the England Athletics Indoor Age Group Championships in Sheffield.

A leap of 6.90m secured the Maldwyn Harrier with a bronze medal in the under 17s boys long jump having also ended seventh in the triple jump earlier in the weekend.

Edwards is now ranked third in the UK long jump rankings for his each age category.
