POWYS schools have represented the county in the national round of the Welsh Schools Cup during the last month.
The county champions were each in action in the last 16 of the prestigious cup.
Llanfyllin High School bowed out of the girls under 13s cup with a 2-0 defeat to Penglais School while the school’s under 15s boys team sealed their quarter-final ticket with a 2-0 win over Aberaeron.
Meanwhile Llanfair Caereinion also booked a last eight date against Pontarddualais with a 3-1 win against Bro Teifi in the under 15s girls cup.
Newtown went out 4-2 on penalties to Bro Teifi following a goalless draw in the under 12s boys cup while Llanidloes also slipped to a 3-0 defeat to Penglais in the under 15s boys cup.
Welshpool’s cup dream ended with a 6-2 defeat against Syr Hugh Owen in the under 18s boys cup but Ysgol Calon Cymru sealed their place in the last eight and a tie against Strade with a 2-1 win over Bro Teifi in the under 14s boys cup.
