BETHAN Wyn Williams starred with a hat-trick as Welshpool prevailed 3-1 winners over Llanfair Caereinion in the North Wales Women’s League.

Williams proved the toast of Welshpool with a player of the match display while Llanfair remained in contention through Nia Ellis’ reply.

Elsewhere Newtown returned from Ruthin 4-2 winners to maintain their title ambitions

Nia Jones starred with two goals for Town while Karen Lewis and Heidi Langford completed the tally with the North Wales side reducing the arrears through Llinos Jones.

Presteigne completed a 6-0 drubbing of Pembroke in the South Wales Women’s Premier League Two.

Beth Watson starred with a hat-trick while Abi Griffiths struck twice and Ellie Williams completed the tally.

Meanwhile Radnor staged a second-half comeback only to fall to a 3-2 defeat at Rhondda in division one of the South Wales Women’s League.

The Goats suffered a nightmare start and trailed by three goals inside the opening 10 minutes.

However a stirring second-half display saw Hayley Price and Zoe Zembruski strike to reduce the arrears but Radnor could not snatch a deserved equaliser.

Meanwhile Newtown fell to an emphatic 8-1 defeat at leaders Birmingham University IVs in the South West Midland Men’s Premier League.

The Students raced into a two goals lead before Tom Hillidge reduced the arrears for the Welshmen.

Sam Phillips-Harvey and Andy Denham went close before the Midlands side regained control with six goals to ensure victory.

Captain Hillidge said: “It was a tough learning curve for a number of our junior players against quality opponents.”
