Guilsfield 1 Gresford Athletic 0
ADAM Jenkins’ late winner maintained Guilsfield’s dominance over Gresford Athletic.
The Wrexham side arrived in Mid Wales having never beaten the Guils on their own patch but riding high on confidence.
However the match was blighted by gale force winds in a match of few clear openings.
Gresford pressed the self destruct button in the second-half with Joe Culshaw dismissed on the hour having seen red following an altercation with the match officials while waiting to come on as a 69th minute substitute.
Ten minutes later Ashton Williams received his marching orders to leave Gresford with nine men.
Gresford’s lack of discipline proved their undoing and with four minutes remaining Steve Blenkinsop released Adam Jenkins to net the only goal of the game.
GUILSFIELD: Jones, Bromley, Richards (Cook 74), Rogers (Parry 84), Ford, James, Lloyd, Harries, Blenkinsop (Blenkinsop 88), Cathrall, Jenkins. Sub: Clifton
