KARTING cousins Matthew and Ben Higgins have enjoyed a stellar start to the season.

Trefeglwys based Matthew Higgins, racing for Dan Holland Racing, dominated at Trent Valley Kart Club in Grantham with a lights to flag victory as part of his preparation for the British Championship.

Higgins won the first heat by 13 seconds and followed that up with victory in heat two before a dominant display in the final.

Meanwhile cousin Ben from Abermule netted his first Motorsports UK win at Shennington to lead the winter series

With strong competition of 26 starters and most of the favourites for this years British karting championship, Higgins started the season with a superb victory.

Higgins ended the first heat in second place before climbing through the field to claim seventh place in heat two.

Higgins battled to glory in the final race after overcoming his Klassen Motorsport team-mate.

Higgins said: “It was a great race and we had two Klaassen Motorsport drivers on the podium so a great weekend all round for the team, and start to the 2020 season”
